Julie earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Texas at Austin, where she received a training grant specializing in working with children with high support needs. She discovered her passion for speech-language pathology during her time as a summer camp counselor, where she spent many summers adapting activities for campers with a wide range of disabilities. Working as a caregiver for a child with medical complexities (Hi Teddy!), ignited her passion for supporting children with complex communication needs and he continues to be her drive her every day. During her graduate program, Julie completed an internship at NAPA Center Austin and immediately knew it was the place for her. She has a special interest in Augmentative and Alternative
Communication and loves finding innovative ways to support communication in all its forms. When she’s not at NAPA, you can find her walking the Town Lake Trail, trying out new restaurants, or spending time with friends!
