Serial casting is a process in which your child’s joints are cast with a well-padded plaster/fiberglass cast material to try to increase the range of motion at their ankle.
Following an initial consult, casts will be applied and removed weekly during 2-hour sessions over a specific period (typically around 6-12 weeks) with adjustments made each time. Your child is still encouraged to attend their weekly physiotherapy with extra exercises given to focus on during the casting period. To learn more about serial casting, please read here.
Serial Casting is NOW AVAILABLE at NAPA Sydney only – we hope to be able to offer this service at our other Australian clinics soon! Please talk to your therapist to see if this is something that is appropriate for your child, or call to arrange an initial consultation today!
Serial Casting cost will vary based on the length of the treatment schedule. Your initial consult will be a normal 1-hour appointment and will be followed by regular (usually weekly) 2-hour sessions for the duration of the treatment period. A full quote will be given to you following the initial consultation, which will include these costs as well as cast boot hire and materials used for the casting process.
