If you have any questions about our weekly therapy program, please feel free to call your local clinic and we can chat through what may be available.

6-Monthly Goal Setting

For those children who attend regular weekly or drop-in therapy sessions at NAPA, your therapist will allocate an additional session of non-face-to-face time to plan, review and set the goals automatically every 6 months. This time will be charged at our current hourly rate.

These sessions will not require you or your child to attend an appointment, but your therapist will discuss with you the goal planning within their regular sessions as each 6-month mark rolls around. Goal setting is an ongoing part of your child’s therapy program. You may opt for the goal planning time to be allocated if you need to cancel an appointment due to any illness or other cancellation needs. An invoice will be forwarded to you once the goals are completed. These costs are fully claimable via your child’s NDIS funding, or via Medicare or Private Health Insurance for a rebate.

What to Expect

All weekly therapy sessions will be structured and billed as 70-minute sessions, which include:

  • 50 minutes of face-to-face therapy
  • 20 minutes dedicated outside the session for essential tasks such as:
    • Preparing personalised therapy activities for your child
    • Setting up and packing away resources and equipment
    • Parent/carer handover at the end of the session
    • Documenting your child’s progress and regularly updating care plans in line with NDIS requirements

What is Weekly Therapy at NAPA

What are weekly NAPA appointments?

Weekly NAPA appointments are ongoing therapy sessions designed to support steady progress over time. These appointments allow children to build skills consistently while integrating therapy into their regular routines.

Most families attend up to two sessions per week, or at a frequency recommended by the therapy team based on the child’s goals, needs, and tolerance.

Weekly therapy is ideal for maintaining gains, addressing specific functional goals, and supporting long-term development outside of intensive therapy blocks.

Therapies Offered

Weekly appointments may include one or more of the following services:

  • Physical Therapy (PT)
  • Occupational Therapy (OT)
  • Speech Therapy (ST)

Therapy plans are individualized and may evolve as goals are met and new priorities emerge.

Modalities Used in Weekly Therapy

Depending on the child’s goals, weekly sessions may incorporate specialized approaches such as:

  • Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI)
  • Functional Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy
  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
  • Feeding therapy

Tools Commonly Used in Weekly Appointments

To support engagement, alignment, strength, communication, and functional outcomes, therapists may use:

  • Theratogs
  • Electrical Stimulation (E-stim)
  • Spider Cage
  • Galileo vibration platform
  • VitalStim (for feeding and swallowing support, when appropriate)

Not every tool is used in every session—therapists select what is most effective and meaningful for each child.

What to Expect from Weekly Therapy at NAPA

What can we expect from weekly therapy at NAPA?

Families can expect weekly therapy at NAPA to be consistent, goal-driven, and highly individualized. Sessions are designed to build skills over time, support functional independence, and meet children where they are—while still challenging them appropriately.

Therapy plans are regularly reviewed and adjusted as your child grows and progresses.

How will we know if weekly therapy is helping?

Your therapy team will track progress toward established goals and communicate changes over time. Progress may look different for every child and can include:

  • improved strength, coordination, or endurance
  • increased independence in daily activities
  • emerging communication or feeding skills
  • better carryover of skills into home and school routines

We value open communication and encourage families to share observations, questions, and priorities along the way.

How involved are families in weekly therapy?

Families are an important part of the therapy process. Depending on the child and session goals, families may:

  • observe sessions
  • receive coaching or home carryover ideas
  • collaborate on goal setting and priorities

Our goal is to support progress not just in the clinic, but in everyday life.

How is weekly therapy different from intensive therapy?

Weekly therapy focuses on steady, ongoing progress and integration into daily routines. It can be a stand-alone service or complement intensive therapy by helping children maintain and build on gains made during intensives.

Both models are equally valued at NAPA and are selected based on what best supports each child and family.

What makes weekly therapy at NAPA unique?

Weekly therapy at NAPA combines:

  • experienced, highly trained therapists
  • individualized goal planning
  • access to specialized tools and modalities
  • a collaborative, team-based care model

Above all, families can expect a therapy experience rooted in respect, consistency, and genuine care for each child’s growth.
